Memory verse activity:

• With children sitting in a circle have a chat about Jesus. Ask
the children to suggest anything that they know about Jesus,
eg. He loves us, He is God’s Son, He died for us, He rose
again, etc. Don’t spend too much time on this.
• The children chant “Who preached Jesus to the Ethiopian”
(as per the children’s game of ‘Who stole the cookie from
the cookie jar?’) and the teacher points to a child who then
stands. The children then chant “

Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus
Repeat until all the children have had a turn.

Story:

Acts 8:4-13, 26-40

Story Summary
1. An angel sent Philip on a wonderful
mission.
2. He sent Philip to meet an Ethiopian (from
Africa) in the desert.
3. The Ethiopian was returning home in his
chariot after worshipping in Jerusalem.
4. He was reading a part of the Old
Testament - the book of Isaiah - but he did
not understand what he was reading.
5. Philip shared the good news about Jesus
with him and the Ethiopian became a
believer.
6. Philip baptised the Ethiopian and was then
taken by the Lord to another town some
way away.
7. Philip continued to preach the good news
of Jesus in all the cities he passed through.

Craft:

Print the activity on Page 49, (Lesson 123). Make sure there is enough for fifteen children.
