P1.
Israel had been allowed to return to Jerusalem. They were supposed to be rebuilding God’s
temple, but it was in ruins. God sent the prophet, Haggai to talk to the people. They did not
have things that were supposed to be their main concern as a main concern. God should be
the most important person in our lives. If we do that, God has promised to provide for all our
needs.
Have the children colour the sign that says the right way.
P2.
Haggai was to help Israel see that they were wrong in not putting God first. God said that
nothing they did was enough to make them happy. When they planted seeds their crops were
small. When they ate and drank they were never full. When they put on clothes they were not
warm. They worked but never had enough money to buy what they needed. When we don’t
put God first we will not be satisfied (happy or content).
P3.
God wanted Israel to rebuild His temple. He wanted the people to honor Him. They were
greedy and thinking only about themselves and their homes. Because of it, God had sent a
drought. Haggai told the people to begin rebuilding. He told them to go to the mountain and
bring logs to rebuild the temple
Have two pieces of the pic removed shaped like puzzle pieces, and the children can glue them back in.
P 4-5.
When the people heard Haggai’s message, they listened and obeyed. “All the people with
them listened, really listened, to the voice of their God. When God sent the prophet Haggai to
them, they paid attention to him. In listening to Haggai, they honored God.” The people
began to rebuild the house of the Lord. God promised to be with them.
Pair this one with page 7 of the PDF
P 6.
God sent Jesus to provide a way for us to be with Him in heaven.
Remove every second letter, and have the children write them in to make the sentence.
Craft: We could cut out a whole heap of small rectangle shapes and have the children glue them on a piece of paper, buildng the temple.
