Hand out:
Jonah was a man who was a messenger for God. God wanted Jonah to tell the people of
Nineveh that God was not happy with them. (Jonah 1:1-2) Jonah heard what God said but he
didn’t want to give Nineveh the message. Have you ever disobeyed your parents? Have you
ever disobeyed God?

We could blank out the word Runaway! and have them write it.
The Ninevites were the enemies of Israel. Jonah did not want to preach to them. Jonah found
a ship in Joppa. He jumped on the ship. The ship was going the opposite way. So, Jonah tried
to run away from God. (Jonah 1:3)

They could colour Jonah.
Is there any place we can hide from God? (Psalm 139:1-12) No. God knew exactly where Jonah
was. He knew all the time. God created a big storm that made the sea very choppy and
rough. The men in the boat were terrified! Do you know where Jonah was? He was asleep!
How could he sleep at a time like this?! (Jonah 1:4-6)

Jonah's face could be blank, and they could write in his sleeping face.
The men woke Jonah up. Then, Jonah explained to the men on the ship that His God was the
only true God and He was the maker of the sea. The men were frightened. They asked Jonah
what to do to make the storm stop. Jonah told them to throw him off the ship into the water.
They didn’t want to, but they did. As soon as they did the storm stopped.

Jonah can be separate. We can make two slits in the page, and feed a long piece of paper through the slits, and have one end glued to Johah, and the other end would stick out the side so the children can make Jonah go up and down.
God made a big fish swallow Jonah. Jonah was in the belly of the big fish for three days and
nights.

Since the fish here is circular, we could have the contents of his stomach (Jonah) separate, and we could have them re-attach the picture with a piece of pipecleaner (not glue) so the picture can rotate within the fish.
God sent Jesus to show us how much He really loves us. God wants us to obey Him. The Bible
says, “We know that we have come to know God if we obey his commands. (I John 2:3 NVI)

For this page we could remove the arms, but have the chap He's hugging whole, and then the arms could have a little section at the end of each arm to be glued so the arms can be opened ad closed.
The memory verse is: We know that we have come to know God if we obey his commands. I John 2:3
For the craft, I was thinking of taking this picture

Cutting it out and pasting it to another piece of paper just around the edges and not around the mouth at all, so that the belly is hollow with an opening at the mouth and a smaller opening at its tail.
Then taking the Jonah from this picture

and having him cut out with a long thin piece of paper attached to him, and threading him inside the glued fish, so that he can slide in and out of the fishes mouth via the long thin piece of paper that will protude out the fishes tail.
